With 25 years of experience as a City of Toronto Building Inspector, Provincial Offences Officer, Mike has worked in many parts of this great city , starting his career in the west end. For a period of time he worked in the downtown core as a Part 3 Inspector ( large buildings ). Mike has worked in the Kensington market area, Bloor West Village, High Park, Parkdale, Queen St West, East York, Queen St. E. and most recently the whole of Scarborough south of Ellesmere Ave. Each of these areas came with their own unique character, challenges and experiences.
Mike has been responsible for numerous disciplines prior to amalgamation. They included Part 9 & 11 of the Ontario Building Code (Small Buildings & Renovations), plumbing, heating, property standards and zoning by-law enforcement. He has taken numerous building code related courses over the years, completing all of the courses and examinations as set out by the Ministry Of Housing, earning his B.C.I.N. (Building Code Inspection Number) 19083.
Mike’s experience also includes a 3 year period in The Enforcement Division, where he gathered evidence, laying charges under the Building Code Act and The Planning Act, re zoning investigations and Property Standards By-Laws. He appeared in court on a weekly basis with a 98.5% conviction rate .
He is also a Master Carpenter by trade holding “The Inter Provincial Seal” which is the highest certification awarded for General Carpenter in Canada. Prior to joining the city Mike was a General Contractor. His experiences include extensive knowledge of all aspects of Commercial, Residential and Industrial construction, including store fixtures and concrete form work. Mike has more than 40 years of construction related experience .
